Web Site looking very good. My compliments to the designers. ::Having served on the 216 up to 1962, am still looking for a good picture of it. There is one hanging in the officers mess of the 281 that would do nicely. If you have any idea how to get a copy would be greatly appreciated.::Yours truly::Pete Ludolph

I just read in MARGEN 042/03 that the HURON will not be put back in service. I guess that makes me the last COXN'S WRITER of the ship! I am sorry to learn SHE will not sail again. Maybe some sort of big farewell whit all her ex-sailors could be organised?

hi, still get a little teary eyed when i talk about my dad. he served in ww2 on the huron, i never realy got to know him as an adult he passed when i was 22, guess he can survive a war but i regret to say he didnt survive an operation shortly after he retired. i keep looking for things about his ship and him. which brought me to this site. i was wondering if anyone was close to him in the war and could tell me any story's about him. his name is Mike Garuk. he didnt talk much about his time in the was. but i know he had went to a huron reunion or two when i was a kid. but he would never talk to me much about the war when i asked.

The Huron was a nice ship in 1960- 61 too bad it was ruled by Comdr Simard, the absolute worst Captain that sailed the seas.

My grandfather, Peter Wispinski, served aboard the Huron in the 40's. No one has seen or heard from him since he disappeared in 1949. He was a Radar operator, and spoke fluent Russian, which, from what I've learned, was valuable in overseas missions. If anyone knows anything abour my grandfather...I haven't met him, and my dad was 2 when Peter disappeared. We would love to hear stories, or memories, or if anyone had seen him since '49. Anything you could offer would be great. I am stuck for search engines. He served aboard the Haida, Huron, HMS Tatar, Ashanti, Eskimo, and Javelin. I appreciate anything anyone has to offer. Thanks kindly, ::Jennifer

I believe my uncle, Steve Arbour, served on the HMCS Huron, during the Murmansk runs. Does anyone remember him? He was a small-built man, fairly soft-spoken and quiet, although a great dry sense of humour like my Dad. I'm doing some Rememberance Day research for my 8-yr old daughter, regarding my Dad's older brother. Both of these men are gone now, so I have only their remaining brother to ask questions of.I have a photo of Steve on ship's deck, which I believe to be the Huron. I'll find it and send it. If anyone can please confirm for me that Steve Arbour served on the first Huron and any other information I'd really appreciate it.::Regards,::Deborah Arbour
